Waiting times for Tesla Model Y delivery in the US are getting a little more manageable

Tesla Model Y Long Range reservation holders in the United States may be in for a pleasant surprise. Recent observations from the EV community show that the Model Y Long Range wait time has been adjusted in the US.

A look at Tesla’s configurator for the best-selling all-electric crossover shows that Model Y Long Range orders placed today could have an estimated delivery date of December 2022. That is, if customers order the vehicle with its optional 20 Induction wheels, a $2,000 option.

Those looking to order the Model Y Long Range with the base 19-inch Gemini wheels will likely have to wait until March 2023 to July 2023. While this is still a long wait for the Model Y, the new time frame represents an improvement as the vehicle was previously listed with an estimated delivery date from April 2023 to July 2023.

Customers who would order the Model Y Long Range with the 20-inch induction wheels should note that the option doesn’t just add $2,000 to the crossover’s price; it also reduces the vehicle’s range to 318 miles per charge. With the base 19″ Gemini Wheels, Tesla lists the Model Y LR’s range as 330 miles per charge.

That said, the Model Y Long Range 20-inch induction wheels are quite popular with customers, in part because of their aesthetics. The 19-inch Gemini wheels look fit for the vehicle, but you can tell they’re optimized for maximum range. The 20-inch induction wheels, with their dark tint, seem just a step away from the 21-inch Überturbine wheels exclusive to the Model Y Performance.

The update to the estimated delivery dates of the Model Y Long Range in the United States bodes well for the vehicle’s ramp at both the Fremont Factory and Gigafactory Texas. With Tesla efficiently producing more of the all-electric crossover, the Model Y could be one step closer to becoming the world’s best-selling car by revenue, just as CEO Elon Musk predicted.
