Unfortunately, the game didn’t perform very well and received mixed reviews from critics and negative response from gamers due to glitches, lack of features and more, yet it still managed to sell over 4.3 million units in its first week.

Battlefield 2042 Season 2 – New Map, Weapons, Gameplay, Story & More

The Battlefield 2042 Season 2 map is called Stranded and is set in the Panama Canal, with a desert lake that is completely empty of water. The trailer opens with a voiceover, followed by players fighting around and inside a stranded container ship named “STARG”.

In the trailer, we see a new Specialist, Charlie Crawford, with a mounted stationary minigun, which can be placed at any point and controlled by any soldier on the battlefield. In addition, he can also breathe new life into players and refill their gadgets and ammunition.

Battlefield 2042 Season 2 New Features

Speaking of the new stuff, Battlefield 2042 Season 2 will feature a ton of new vehicles, weapons, and other stuff. Let’s start with weapons –

Battlefield 2042 Season 2 gets three new weapons, including:

  • AM40 Carbine – It’s a completely new weapon that sits between an assault rifle (AR) and a submachine gun. With this gum you can change the shooting style, add improvements and more.
  • Avancy’s – It’s a light machine gun. No further information about this weapon has been released yet.
  • PF41 – It is a combination of an SMG and a handgun.

In addition, the game will have concussion grenades that can help you temporarily confuse your enemies.

Battlefield 2042 Season 2 will also receive new vehicles, including:

  • EBLC RAM – It is a four-seat vehicle that can also be used as a spawn point if the player places a beacon on it.
  • Polaris RZR – It is a lightweight buggy.

Additionally, Battlefield 2042 Season 2 introduces a new feature called Assignments. However, this feature is nothing new in terms of concept, as it only tracks your progress and allows you to unlock new weapons that were only available on the Battlefield Portal.

Currently there are only two weapons that can be unlocked, including M60E3 and M16A3, but Battlefield has promised to add more in the future. In addition, this Assignments feature can also be used to unlock vehicles, weapons, and Specialist characters from Season 1, which is the best thing in my opinion.

What else is at play?

The developers of the game understand that their new experiment made the game struggle. However, the developers said that: “they will learn from the struggles and will apply those lessons to make the upcoming Battlefield game better.”

They even released a reworked version of the Kaleidoscope map saying: “Kaleidoscope has been reworked to provide an improved gameplay flow through new coverage assets, flag positions, terrain elevations, and visual updates for various locations on the map.”

In addition, the game studio also announced their plans for the Season 3 update, saying: “The arrival of Specialists in Battlefield 2042 is polarizing. We heard you. So in Season 3, we’re moving Specialists to the classic and well-known Battlefield class system.

Alexia Christofi, the game’s producer, added: “They will have features available to all Specialists within a given class, with existing open gadgets and throwables distributed across classes to suit their role.”

Final Words – What do you think of Battlefield 2042 Season 2?

Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 was disappointing and I am looking forward to this season with hope. The trailer and other things look promising so far, and most importantly, it feels exactly like we’ve come to expect from Dice and EA.
